The Reed at Southbank, Chicago, IL
As the first high-rise in Chicago to incorporate low carbon concrete, The Reed at Southbank set a bold new standard in sustainable construction—and Oremus Material was proud to be part of the team that made it happen.
Builder: Lendlease, McHugh
234 W Polk Street, Chicago, IL 60607
29,200 cubic yards of low-carbon concrete
Level Student Housing Tower, University of Arizona
Oremus Material supplied 12,632 cubic yards of concrete for this prestigious project, which broke ground in May 2012 and opened before the start of the 2013-14 school year. The job required us to deliver 11,000-PSI concrete in the heat of summer, when temperatures typically reach 100 degrees or more, all while keeping mix temperatures within specifications. Problem solved: just add ice (and lots of it!) while using chilled water on the spray bars.
